The Lion Dance

The lion dance is displayed during the Chinese New Year period. It symbolizes prosperity and good fortune and is believed to chase away evil spirits. This year our school invited a lion dance team to come and perform in our school on the 16th February 2011. The performance took place during the co-co period. As the performers assembled their various equipment, the students grew anxious. The performance began with a bang through the loud beats of the drum which set the right mood for the entertainment .

The amazing moves exhibited by the performers over awed the students as well as the teachers. Their stunts consisted of various lifts and jumps which were truly captivating. The performance was capped with a random distribution of oranges to a few students and teachers as well as the popping of confetti. All in all, the lion dance performance was truly amazing as it provided a chance for the pupils to take a break from their studies and relax for a short time.
